REBNY Celebrates Outstanding Commercial Property Management Professionals at 17th Annual Leadership Breakfast

NEW YORK, NY – The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), the City’s leading real estate trade association, gathered members of the commercial property management industry on June 13th for the 17th Annual Commercial Management Leadership Breakfast. Celebrating the accomplishments of commercial property management professionals, the event featured keynote remarks from New York City Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell who was introduced by former NYPD Dermot Shea, currently the President of Related Commercial Property Management.

In Commissioner Sewell’s remarks she discussed her tenure in her position and notable public safety achievements over the last year, in addition to thanking the event honorees for their commitment and service to New York City

The prestigious Edward A. Riguardi Commercial Management Executive of the Year Award was presented to Daniel Kindbergh of Brookfield Properties. As Executive Vice President, Operations for the New York region, Dan is responsible for overseeing the property management of all Brookfield office properties in the New York City area. He has provided leadership during many critical events including the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan after 9/11 and responding to Hurricanes Ike and Sandy.

“Commercial management teams are the backbone of the real estate industry and essential for New York City’s built environment and the diverse economy it supports,” said REBNY President James Whelan. “We thank all of the honorees and the professionals that keep our buildings at peak performance.”

Organized by the REBNY Commercial Management Breakfast Planning Committee, the following awards were presented at the event:
• John M. Griffin Community Service Award to Andrew Mattson, RXR
• On-Site Manager the Year award to Stephen Latargia, Cushman & Wakefield
• Portfolio Manager of the Year Award to Edina Lemo, Cushman & Wakefield
• Small Building Engineer of the Year Award to Bill Losco, Sage Realty
• Large Building Engineer of the Year Award to Michael Fallon, Vornado Realty Trust
• Security Professional of the Year Award to Omar Olivo, The Durst Organization
• Hector J. Figueroa Porter of the Year Award to Otis Spencer, Fisher Brothers
• Rising Star of the Year Award to Meghan Bilello, RXR Realty
• Best Engine Room Award to The Oculus at World Trade Center

Nearly 650 individuals attended the breakfast held at the New York Hilton Midtown at 1335 Avenue of the Americas. Commercial real estate professionals at the event were also joined by many labor leaders, including Manny Pastreich, Denis Johnston, Kuba Brown, Ray Macco and Howard Styles.

The awards presentation was hosted by Gaston Silva, Chief Operating Officer - New York of Vornado Realty Trust and the Co-Chair of REBNY’s Management Division Board of Directors along with Michael Aisner, Senior Vice President for Property Management at RXR Realty and Chair of REBNY's Commercial Management Council.
